Handmade stoneware garlic grating dish. These little dishes have a rough texture at the centre of them, against which you grind garlic cloves in circular motion to turn them into a paste. This method of preparing garlic releases more allacin (the compound that gives garlic its flavour) than regular chopping or slicing, so you really maximise the flavour this way!
They can also be used to grate ginger, so they’re handy things to have in the kitchen, and make wonderful gifts.
Instructions for use: Put a drop of veg or olive oil in the dish before commencing grating. Use circular motions to grind the garlic or ginger against the rough section until you have a paste. Use a pastry brush (silicone or nylon will work) to get the paste out of the grooves, and then wash the dish with a dish brush and washing up liquid.
Suitable for the dishwasher and microwave.
